Training Courses
As The UKs most successful and prolific Brewery Installer and Consultant, I run short brewing courses for individuals who might be thinking of becoming brewers, or people who feel the need to augment their knowledge as current operators.
I have designed, installed and commissioned more than 70 breweries in the UK, training more then 100 brewers on site, with their own plant. Whilst owning The Griffin Inn I brewed in excess of 2 million pints of beer.
Courses dates are:-
1st – 4th September 2008
17 - 20 November 2008
Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 12.
Based at the Premises of:
Outstanding Brewing Co Ltd
Cobden Street
Bury
Lancashire
BL9 6AW
The course is split into two modules - 3 and 4 days.
I believe that good brewers are those that view the industry from a very strong practical and common sense approach, and my courses will focus on these aspects rather than deep irrelevant theory and laboratory analysis.
Day 1
- theory from grist composition and water treatment to collecting in the beer in the fermenting vessel, Full course notes will be given and worked through.
Day 2
- brew twice, one ale and one lager. The brewery capacity will be 2400 litres (15 barrels). Both beers will be brewed in parallel.
Day 3
- fermentation, analyzing the beer we brewed the previous day and continuing with the theory, including cask washing and barreling.
- What can go wrong!
- Site location and brewery layout. Bureaucratic procedures, marketing, business analysis and costs.
- Real ale bottling, including full demonstrations.
Day 4
- advanced theory, and filtering – Carbonating and pressure filling kegs and bottles.
